During gInterior Lifestyle 2003h held for three days starting on June 17, prototypes of the 9 prize-winning sofas in g21st Century Sofa Design Competitionh were exhibited.

"Beautiful Sofa" - It is your vote to select it - User Grand Prize

"User Grand Prize", which was selected based on the votes of visitors to the event, was awarded by the winner of BeSure Prize that won 614 votes among the total 1977.@
While the selection of the rest of the prize-winners took into consideration the possibility of product release in the market, BeSure Prize was the only prize
which was selected outside of that scope. Considering this fact, we can't make an easy comparison among the 9 prize-winning designs. The runner-up was the "TIME & STYLE PRIZE" winner. Both designs have been created by students with unique ideas and materialized by experienced and skilled professional hands.

œ All the people who once sat on the sofa couldn't help smiling. With that playful touch, it is a sofa I wish to have at home.
œ

The cat bus that appears in the movie "TOTORO" must have comfortable seats like thisc

œ

"Fun" is the very right word to express the whole thing including the concept based on a cloud and the sensation that you have when you actually sit on it.

œ

Sitting on it, looking at it and touching it, it was the warmest.

œ

A very eye-catching sofa. It has a form never seen before but it makes you relaxed. Its simplicity and the soft touch were the keys to my decision.

œ

It looks too hot in summer but the wrapped feelingis fantastic.

œ It is nice to be able to design a sofa by yourself depending on the space available.
œ

It fits in Japanese space and allows you to play Go and Japanese Chess. The charm is its flexibility.

œ

I found it quite attractive that L-shaped parts can be assembled.

œ

It is a type of design likely to exist but never existed. It has both practicality and good design. It gives a decent atmosphere as well.

œ

With the sofa only, this design enables you to see the surrounding space in your mind.

œ Without cloth or urethane, the sofa fits you well and it is very comfortable. I liked the design that reminded me of the '60s.
œ Very unique and comfortable to sit on.
œ It is just unique and interesting!
œ

Eliminating every possible unnecessary thing, it is easy to move and set up.

œ

Innovative because it looks like something that is furthest away from the concept of sofa.

œ

With a totally new design, it is like an object d'art.

œ What's impressive about it is that the concept of sofa is expanded and the fusion of the interior space is considered. If you place it upright, it can be a bookshelf, can't it?
œ

The beautiful curve plus the functionality. It is more like architecture than furniture.

œ

Remaining simple and intellectual, it is also unique.

œ

The good things about the sofa are that you can sit on it from different angles and it has storage space.

œ

I quite liked the storage space which could be used@from either side.

œ I liked the curve which fitted me when I lay down on it.

œ I am impressed that it is just a sofa but it can create a room. The design is great.
œ

It gave me a strong impact. The sofa is not only the thing to sit on but to create a small room ? it is an amazing idea!

œ

It is like a bus stop where you wait for your bus. If someone happens to sit next to you, you might feel like starting a casual conversation with that person.

œ

What I like about it is that it is like a hiding place such as a closet or an attic. It gives me the idea of hide-and-seek.

œ

The arm can be used as a side-table and the lighting on the ceiling is good.

œ It gives a different expression depending on how you place it and it is a good and simple design.
œ The distortion is so good that I can't describe it.
œ

The sheen of the fabric is good. With the size and the height, you can sit there very relaxed.

œ Simple but warm - it fits in the daily life.
œ The color is relaxing and it gives comfort.
œ

At the first glance, I thought "This is it!" It was most beautiful.

œ The atmosphere it gave me as the first impression was good and I liked its presence.
œ

The cushion was not too hard or too soft - it was just right and the sofa was comfortable to sit on.

œ As a sofa bed, the design is very sharp and nice.
œ

At the first glance, I thought it was the sexiest sofa among all.

œ In a minimal design, I see some flexible factors.
œ

The waffle fabric gives an warm impression like towel cloth.

œ

It will suit the Japanese climate. I simply want it.

œ

It is unobtrusive and would suit my living space of which major area is close to the floor.

œ

It has a touch of the Japanese tradition. I was attracted to its simplicity and warmth.

œ

I wouldn't get tired of it because of its natural material.

œ

I like it because it offers security in which I want to have a relaxing time.

œ The idea to change the distance between people sitting on the sofa is new. It is also interesting to see that you can change its impression by moving the sofa.
œ If I am to buy a sofa, I will choose this.
œ

It is great that it can become either 1 piece or 2 pieces. Looks very useful.

œ

The good part is that you can keep some distance from the person who is sitting next to you by sliding. The seats are in the right hardness too.

œ

This sofa will well-match the housing conditions in Japan.

œ

It would be nice to have some tea on the sofa.

œ

It would suit any kind of space and it looks quite practical.
